One of our favorite family pastimes is going to museums on free days. Most museums have one day a month when they suspend the admission fee, and they often have special activities too! In Miami Beach the Bass Museum of Art opens its doors on the last Sunday of the month. We complete an art project, attend a yoga class, examine mummies in the permanent collection, discover amazing modern art in the temporary exhibits, and sometimes even listen to live Haitian hip hop. I love that my children have grown up in the backdrop of fine art. They take it for granted now, but I believe it will be the foundation for a lifetime love of the arts.
January was double the fun because the symphony hosted a free outdoor concert just outside the museum much to our surprise and delight. Here is Jack letting the music wash over him in the sunshine.
A good life for all.
