Art Basel has descended on Miami and much of it is geared towards adults, but last night Miami Children’s Museum hosted an art party for kiddos. It was to celebrate the construction of The Ship of Tolerance by Russian artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. Students from the museum’s charter school created artwork for the sails. Max and Jack had seen the construction earlier in the week, so they were excited to see it complete.
It was all good and fun until a moment of magic caught me just before we left the party.
A mariachi band played and Max started swaying his hips. I offered my hand and he accepted. We ended up sharing our first dance. It lasted the whole song!
Andres and I were married on Cinco de Mayo. A mariachi band played during our cocktail hour. I couldn’t help but marvel at the parallel. One day I will dance with Max at his wedding, and a part of me will be forced to let him go (just a little). But for now at any moment, I may stumble into a dance with him. Under moonlight, no less!
