Nursery ABCs

Classic wooden blocks are a great material to use when decorating your nursrey.  Of course you can sand and paint them in any color your want, but the primary colors catch baby’s eye the most.

God Loves Cross

This is one of my favorite decorations in our nursery.  All I did was use wood glue to fasten basic wooden blocks together and nail a hook in the back.  In retrospect I think it would have looked best if I coordinated the colors of the blocks better, but I just went with them the way they were.

ABC Mirror

I also glued blocks around and old mirror we were going to throw out.  I made sure I had a variety of letters, numbers and pictures.  I was pregnant when I made it and knew my baby’s name would begin with either an M or an L, so I made sure those letters showed.  Again, all that was needed was wood glue.

From a very early age, these blocks caught the attention of my babies.  Now that they are toddlers, they recognize them as ABCs and delight in finding pictures of objects they like.  The best nursery decor is one that grows with a child and that’s exactly what these block decorations have done.

I actually just made that myself using wood glue and blocks. You can make one yourself by having “Jesus” run vertically, and “loves you” running horizontally, intersecting at the first “s”. You might add a few more blocks with just pictures or blank sides showing on the vertical side to keep the proportions of the cross correct. Send me a picture if you decide to make one. Good luck! Love, Rebecca
