Green living is such a buzz word these days.
Sometimes people get confused and think it is a lifestyle reserved for only the rich. Organic food and special cleaners are certainly expensive, but they aren’t the only way to live a green life. Growing a garden and making your own natural cleaners are excellent choices for budget-minded environmentalists.
At the heart of green living is the willingness to work with what you’ve got. Recycling is good, but requires extra energy to process. The first step to living the green life is to reuse and repurpose. Get creative. Think outside the box. Settle for what is working instead of reaching for what is new.
Jack just had a birthday and with it came the usual slew of greeting cards. Before sending the scraps to the recycling bin, I spent 15 minutes with my scissors. I cut cards and envelopes into little shapes perfect to use as gift tags or lunchbox notes. It was surprising to see how many little cards I could make, and how adorable they were. Even the envelopes can be reused. Their crease along the edges can make lots of miniature cards. Pinking sheers add more fun too.
Challenge: what small thing can you do today to reuse or repurpose something that you already have?
