Fall is upon us, so naturally scarecrows are starting to pop up all around suburban neighborhoods.
‘Tis the season to celebrate the harvest. Halloween just around the corner.
This summer I visited the apple orchards to Green Bluff in Washington State, and saw these adorable handmade tin man scarecrows. How perfect to combine two beloved characters from The Wizard of Oz into a fun craft using recyclables!
As you can see from the picture, the creator used tin cans (Perhaps it’s time to make some pumpkin bread.), a funnel for a hat, mop hair, bottle cap eyes, and feet made from sardine cans. The female scarecrow on the right even sports soda can tab earrings painted red. The faces were nailed pieces of vinyl. It was assembled using screws, braces, and wires. Zoom in for a detailed look.
Now, what I want to know is, who is going to make their own? And, please send us a picture.
